Trenches

Hard landscaping has started - retaining walls, walled kitchen garden.....

Trenches for drainage pipes, cabling, entrance gates, patio, light well all still to come once the scaffolding has gone.

 

Despite being at the top of a hill we have found that now all the trees have gone the ground gets very water-logged due to the clay soil. To keep all the water away from the house we are putting land drains in leading to large (very large) soak aways...

 

 

...and yes I know it looks like crate stacking!

 

Light was lovely this afternoon so here are a few more shots of the scratch coat before the rendering is finished.
